The Pasadena hearing and speech support organization HEAR Center will be holding its first ever Bowl-A-Thon event Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the 300 Pasadena Bowling Alley along East Foothill Boulevard to raise funds for the organization to continue their selfless cause of providing hearing and speaking support services to the community

Aside from the audiology, hearing therapy, and speech pathology services that HEAR Center provides, the group also performs community outreach programs to bring free hearing and speech-language screenings to those in need (typically the young and the old).

HEAR Center also conducts informational seminars to the community to increase awareness on various disorders that can affect hearing and speech problems.

?The benefits go to HEAR Center ? it will help HEAR Center continue to provide services to our community,? said HEAR Center Marketing/Special Events/Screenings Coordinator Alyssa Wasserman. ?It?s just a great community event for everyone to come out and bowl, have some food, and get ready for fall.?

Those interested in the event can help by purchasing their tickets, sponsoring HEAR Center bowlers, Sponsoring a Bowl-A-Thon lane and get recognized for it, or by signing up for a team and bringing up to 10 bowlers with them.

Aside from the dining and bowling activities, HEAR Center will also be holding a Halloween costume contest for children ages up to15 years old.

Tickets to the event can be purchased online for $20 or at the door for $25, and are inclusive of bowling, shoe rental, and food.

?We?re gearing up for free hearing screenings and speech screenings for preschools, regular schools, and senior centers,? said Ellen Simon, Executive Director of the HEAR Center. ?We go to their location and provide the services free of charge and we provide free follow-up services at the HEAR Center for all children that fail a screening.?
?We also provide speech screening at the schools, preschools and regular schools,? added Simon. ?We provide free follow-up services at the HEAR Center for children who fail a speech screening. We were at 69 sites providing these services last year.?

The HEAR Center 1st Annual Bowl-A-Thon will be held Sunday, October 21, 2012 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the 300 Pasadena Bowling Alley on 3545 E Foothill Blvd, Pasadena.
