Social Media's Impact on Real World Change [Infographic ...

As we?ve seen other the past several years, social media is no longer confined to the Internet. Evolving well beyond desktop communication, social is now an integral part in our lives offline when it comes to purchasing decisions, communicating with other about a show, game, or event, and perhaps most importantly, charitable causes. The entire idea of social good has been lifted because of social, but is driven by offline communities.

This is what I?ve come to realize through my efforts with Tweet Drive, where we have collected over 6,200 toys in two years because we were able to social to bring real people together under a greater cause.

I frequently talk at conferences and schools about social good and how it means much more than impressions, mentions, and likes. It?s about empowering a community through online tools to enact real world change. Many campaigns have figured that out and many are on their way.

I?m happy to be a part of the movement and proud to share this infographic some of my fellow Tar Heels at UNC?s online MPA program, MPA@UNC created to showcase the power of social good and some of the campaigns that have leveraged social media for social change.

What other social good campaigns have inspired you or have made a significant impact?
